I was so panicked. It is natural to be in a panic before the day of the wedding. After all, it was the most monumental day of my daughter's life, & one of the most important days of mine.
I just wanted to have everything right. I needed to know that everything was arranged perfectly. Of course, I knew I was being irrational. It is almost natural to be irrational before such a gala occasion. Nonetheless, I couldn't help myself. My husband told me to calm down, but it did no good. And then the bad news struck.
It seems that the florist had fouled up the flower arrangement. It is not like we hadn't given him meticulous instructions. Just like with assembling the wholesale wedding favors, we gave step by step directives. I know that flower arrangements for weddings are one of the most imperative decorative elements, together with those wholesale wedding favors. They were the last thing that we picked out, & meant to reflect all of the other elements. Floral arrangements for weddings, you see, do not stand alone. They have to reflect the bridesmaid dresses, the bridal gown, the wholesale wedding favors, & the decorations of the room. Everything has to be taken into account or else nothing will look right. I been concerned that the flower arrangements for weddings would not look right, but it did not even occur to me that the florist would mess up the order. I figured that it might look different once we got in to the room and not be a sign of the other elements of the decorations the way that I wanted. But when he screwed up at the last moment, it was more than I could take.
It wasn't like the flower arrangements for the wedding were slightly off. They were not even close. If the floral arrangements for weddings had been, say, a lighter shade of purple instead of the dark purple that I had elected, it would have been alright. As it was, they were entirely different. I assume that combined them with some other flower arrangements for weddings ordered by some other wedding day party. They were probably having the same nervous fit that I was having right now. Instead of the dark violet floral bridal bouquet that we had preferred, we are presented with a collection of Calla lily arrangements. I think that calla lilies make fantastic floral arrangements for weddings, but they did not go together with any-thing. They clashed horribly. All the guests were polite about it, but I can not believe that no one noticed!
