In the late autumn the creepy crawlers came scurrying into our residence from their outside nests seeking refuge from the approaching winter winds and cold. If there is one thing I can't bear it is spiders. One night I was awoken by the howling wind and a terrifying dream to discover with horror, just above my head on the ceiling was an ugly, hairy, eight legged creature that seemed to sense my fear and came slithering towards me in a sluggish but determined manner. I screamed, but it kept approaching.
I woke my husband who had lost in the world of dreams and pushed him, half-awake through the hall yelling 'Get the vacuum cleaner, its time to go spider-busting'. It was simply when we turned on the lights that we saw with complete misery that the arachnid invader was not alone - he had an armed forced with him - all over the house they were dotted, crouching in corner, crawling down walls. Right, it was time for concerted action.

When finally we'd finished, and not a furry leg or web could be found in the entire house, we breathed a collective sigh of relief. We were tired but contented.
